WILL ROGERS’ ROMANCE WITH BETTY and AMERICA
written and performed by Lynette Bennett
At a time when the world needs life enhancing values, it is appropriate to lift up Oklahoman Will Rogers (1879-1935), the Cherokee cowboy, actor/humorist, writer and humanitarian who was the first and greatest multimedia star of them all. The vibrant yet contrasting personalities of Will and his much-loved wife Betty Blake shine with rich clarity through this performance.
In portraying Betty Rogers, Lynette reveals Betty’s intimate experience of marriage to a world legend, a heart-warming glimpse into the private soul of the woman whose insights helped create the public Will Rogers, America’s most popular figure.
Will Rogers’ Romance With Betty and America is a one-woman musical drama written and performed by Lynette Bennett with piano accompaniment and CD orchestrations, featuring period music and costumes. The script is written in three lengths, each running 1 hour, or 20 minutes, or 10 minutes.
A dynamic actor/singer/dancer, Lynette has starred in productions at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, London’s West End, Broadway, Off-Broadway and currently travels widely with her one-woman shows.
“…the first ever production to focus on Will Rogers’ beloved wife Betty Blake Rogers, is extraordinarily well conceived, staged and performed. It’s intelligent, insightful and accurate. In a radiantly captivating performance, Lynette succeeds in engaging the audience and making it understand and appreciate the man who became an American legend and the woman who quietly contributed so much to help make it happen.”

“I highly recommend your show. It is a well-written, well-acted, and well-staged interpretation of a woman who contributed significantly to shaping the multi-faceted career of her husband. It captures well my grandmother’s keen intelligence, her lively spirit, and her deep love for her husband, Will Rogers, and
their children.”
James K. Rogers
Grandson of Will and Betty Rogers
